VO2 Peak Cycle Test
Objective: Measure peak oxygen uptake (VO2 peak) and determine cardiorespiratory fitness in healthy young adults using cycle ergometry
Protocol Steps
Participant recruitment and screening
Recruit healthy young adults between 18 and 35 years old. Screen for exclusion criteria including antibiotic treatment within previous 6 months, current prescribed pharmaceutical drug utilization, or active acute or chronic diseases
Note: Verbal interview conducted

“Healthy young adults between 18 and 35 years old were recruited. Exclusion criteria included antibiotic treatment within the previous 6 months, current prescribed pharmaceutical drug utilization, or active acute or chronic diseases”
Dietary habits assessment
Conduct verbal interview with participants regarding their dietary habits
View evidence from paper
“All participants were verbally interviewed on their dietary habits”
VO2 peak cycle test
Administer cycle ergometry test to determine cardiorespiratory fitness and measure peak oxygen uptake
Note: Test conducted during lab visit
View evidence from paper
“CRF was determined using a VO2 peak cycle test”
Stool sample collection
Provide participants with stool collection kit and instructions. Participants collect sample within one week following lab visit
View evidence from paper
“Participants were then provided a stool collection kit with instructions and were asked to provide a sample within a week following their lab visit”
